What are Yoni eggs?

Yoni eggs are semiprecious stone carved into an egg shape and polished to be worn inside the vagina.

Female practice that involved using stone eggs is estimated to be 5000 years old. Eggs carved out of jade were used by empresses and concubines of  the royal palace in China to access sexual power, awaken sensuality and maintain amazing health into their old age. For a very long time this secret practice was only available to members of the royal family, and up until recently – to select Taoist practitioners.

Yoni is a Sanskrit word for the female genitalia and means “sacred space”. Its symbol has been worshiped in Eastern culture since ancient times for bestowing life, creativity and love. We will be using the term Yoni to bring appreciation and acknowledgement to the Western culture of the creative power this magical part of the female body holds

How to Use Your Yoni Egg:

First you will want to physically clean your yoni and make sure it is clean before inserting.

Get yourself in a comfortable position, if you require lubricant before insertion, a water based lubricant is fine.

Take the yoni egg, small end facing down while relaxing the pelvis, and insert the yoni egg into your vagina until you feel it settle into place.

You can start using whichever size yoni egg you feel comfortable using - I usually recommend starting with large or medium so that the egg is easier to feel inside of you and you can get used to working with the weight of the egg inside. Once you are more comfortable you ca practice your kegals with the small eggs or even add weights for more of a challenge!

Our yoni eggs are drilled and come with recovery string for easier removal.

Otherwise, to remove the yoni egg after you are finished working with it, simply bear down and 'push' to release the egg from your vaginal canal and remove it.

Are you ready to choose YOUR yoni egg?

Great care and knowledge - not to mention intuition should be applied when beginning your journey of looking for the perfect yoni egg. Although many natural stones and gems are beautiful and may resonate with us aesthetically, there are yoni eggs, or stones carved in an egg shape and marketed as yoni eggs out there that are not suitable for use because of issues with toxicity and unwanted things leeching into our precious body temples.

Which stones should you avoid when choosing your yoni egg? A good rule of thumb is if an egg is broken down by acids (Yonis are acidic), very soft (under a 5.5 on the mohs scale),  contains lead or copper, or easily dissolves it should not be used as a Yoni egg.

Some examples of material NOT to use include:

  • Turquoise - toxic Copper
  • Calcite- Dissolves
  • Angelite- lead
  • Chrysocolla - toxic copper
  • Hematite - it rusts
  • Chalcopyrite- sulphur
  • Galena- lead
  • Malachite- toxic copper
  • Selenite- it dissolves
  • Rhodochrosite - Lead
  • Pyrite- can convert to sulfuric acid
  • Orpiment- Arsenic
  • **Lapis Lazuli- may contain Pyrite (The jury is out on the toxicity of Lapis, however I'm mentioning it here out of caution)
  • Lazurite- sulphur
  • Tiger's Eye - contains asbestos
